Canaan Sodindo Banana (5 March 1936 – 10 November 2003) was a Zimbabwean Methodist minister, theologian, and politician who served as the first President of Zimbabwe from 1980 to 1987. He was elected Chairman of the Bulawayo Council of Churches in 1969, holding that position until 1971.
