We usually try to get back to you about the outcome of the interview within one week. During busy periods this might take a bit longer, but not hearing from us after 10 days is unexpected and you should definitely poke us.

Do employers verify GPA?

Most employers won’t check your GPA unless they’re hiring for an entry-level job where they’re looking for extra qualifiers. Some companies require college transcripts, and the hiring manager will likely check your GPA in this case as well.

What is the interview process like at Jane Street?

In normal times, the on-site interview is held in one of our offices. Right now, due to COVID-19, we are doing onsites via video conference rather than in person. The bulk of our technical interviews ask you to work through a coding and algorithms problem with 1-2 full-time Jane Street software engineers.

What should I expect during an interview?

Interviewing is a two-sided process. We’re trying to understand what it’s like to work with you, but you should also be learning about us, and trying to decide if you’d like to work at Jane Street. It should feel interactive; please use this time to ask questions, get to know us, and try to understand how things work here.

Can I interview for more than one position at a time?

When we assess applicants we do so for one role at a time, while also considering all our open roles to try and determine a fit within Jane Street. Given this, it’s not uncommon for candidates to interview for more than one position over the course of the process.

On the other hand, Jane Street is the only firm I am aware of that accepts rising sophomore applicants – other firms tend to only accept rising seniors and juniors in exceptional cases.
