​With access to thousands of online resources, it is certainly possible to learn game development on your own. In fact, many game developers have taught themselves. From online courses to communities of game developers, learning this skill can become beneficial both as a hobby and as a career.

You are definitely not too old to learn game development. Jobs may be harder to find. You need to build up a portfolio of work that you can show people. Your portfolio is more important than your resume.

No matter your skill level, you can make a game too. 2 years ago, I thought it was impossible, but tried anyways. It was the hardest thing I’d ever done. But it was worth it. Now, I realize game development is like any skill — you only get better by doing, failing, then improving.
