Can you learn a language without learning to write it?

It is possible to learn a language without ever opening a book about it, but you need to dedicate some time to learn it. You need to learn words and sentence structure by listening or reading. You need to produce the language and have your errors corrected.

Can you learn a language just by talking?

Is it better to learn to speak or read a language?

In most cases it is easier to read than speak it because in reading you can take your own time and there is usually no doubt about what word is used. In speaking you need an active knowledge of words, their meaning, and pronunciation. That is just a lot more than a passive knowledge required for reading.

Can you learn a language and still not be able to communicate?
