Can you remove people from your Meetup group?

Organizers, co-organizers, and assistant organizers can choose to remove or ban members from their groups. Removing and banning serve different purposes, and it’s up to the Meetup group leadership to choose which one is appropriate. If you remove a member from your Meetup group, they can still request to rejoin.

How do I get out of a Meetup group?

  2. Go to the homepage for the Meetup group you want to leave.
  3. Click You’re a member.
  4. Click Leave Group from the drop-down menu.
  5. Optionally, you may write a message for the organizer upon leaving the group.

A standard Meetup organizer subscription allows organizers to start up to three groups. Pro network admins also have the ability to start their own groups, add existing Meetup groups to their network by sponsoring them, and schedule an event across multiple groups in their network.

Note: It is not currently possible to delete a message. As you become more active on Meetup, you’ll find yourself receiving more messages, and archiving old or finished messages can really help keep your inbox clean.

Do people check out other people’s meetup profiles?

We have lots of members relatively new to Meet Up…they see our group’s name pop up way more often than a group with 300 members. It pops up lots of places. Everyone checks out other member’s profiles…what groups do they belong to? (often ours)…doesn’t matter if they are active or not.

Should we remove men from fitness groups?

As for removing men, that might be more arbitrary. If a majority of the group would be more comfortable with just women, and/or if it seems to fit the general vibe better, you could decide to define it as a fitness group for women, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

How do I reach out to members of my group?

You can reach out to members privately or in small groups using Meetup Messages. These messages are sent directly to the recipients’ Meetup inbox, and only the members included in the conversation are able to view them. When a new member joins your group, we’ll send them a welcome message, which you can set up to say whatever you like.
