To make good decisions, you need to understand the difference between fate and free will. Life is a delicate balance between the two. Fate brings you opportunities, and free will determines whether or not you take them. Fate is the destiny that is pre-planned for you, but it’s up to you to do something with it.

Do we determine our own direction in life or are we at the mercy of fate?

Fate is what puts opportunities in front of us but our destiny is ultimately determined by our decisions. Our destiny is not something we can sit by and let happen to us. We need to take action on the opportunities we are presented with fate may open doors but if it’s our destiny, then WE have to walk through them.

Why do some people believe in destiny?

For most people, the concepts of fate and destiny are comforting ideas. They allow them to live their lives however they want and truly believe that something will happen to them regardless of their choices. In a way, it absolves them from any real responsibility for their circumstances.

Having a predetermined destiny means that you have no control over the events or actions that you were destined to experience. Many spiritual individuals have had feelings or meaningful events in their life that have led them to a certain point.

Belief plays its part but it is far from being the only factor that controls one’s destiny. Extremism in thinking has the potential of doing much harm to an individual or society. It seems that the human mind is more inclined to reach for extremes than the happy mean.
