Ikram, At university level for Electrical Engineering program is not expected to have high experience in computer programming when you start. In Electronic Engineering the programming (process of Coding) is part of your freshman year classes but not the main focus of the career.

Computer Engineering is still in it’s infancy as a stand-alone major in colleges across the country. In the past, the major was called “Electrical and Computer Engineering”, but the computer side became more and more specialized, which has brought about the computer engineering major. The big issue here is ABET certification.

Any engineering will require at least some coding. Java is a tough first language. Give python a try. I don’t understand why schools push java so much. It’s virtually useless beyond college.
