Does spacetime have a direction?

Does spacetime have a direction?

A warping space: Earth has no atmospheric medium and has no direction. I mean calculation of time to measure a distance, an angle, or position of an object in spacetime. As far as I know there seems to be no time calculation in Einstein’s theory of gravity.

Is it theoretically possible to bend space-time?

“We know that space can be bent. If space can be bent by, say, gravity, then spacetime can be bent,” Beacham said. You may have even seen spacetime portrayed as a fabric, manipulated by energy. If spacetime can be bent, Beacham continued, it’s theoretically possible that time can be bent.

Why does mass bend spacetime?

That being said, you can think of mass as a property derived from the ability to distort space time. Thus, asking why mass bends spacetime is like asking why a red object is red. It’s red because that’s the property which defines red objects. It actually turns out that mass in GR is not simple.

Why does the universe continue to unfold in the same direction?

That’s not the case with space – you can’t just move things around in space and expect them to be unchanged – so scientists have long assumed that there’s some fundamental reason for why the Universe continues to unfold in a forwards direction in time, but not in space. This is known as the ‘asymmetry’ between time and space.

Does the Earth distort space and time?

The early results from Gravity Probe B, one of Nasa’s most complicated satellites, confirmed yesterday ‘to a precision of better than 1 per cent’ the assertion Einstein made 90 years ago – that an object such as the Earth does indeed distort the fabric of space and time.

Does time ever really move forward?

We all know that time only ever moves forward in our world – no matter how many times we’ve wanted it to, that glass of spilt milk never un-spills itself, and we’re definitely not getting any younger.
