In fact I made a plan that if my life wasn’t better by the time I turned 40, that was it. I was done. 40 years was more than the old college try – I felt, when I made the plan, that 40 years of misery should be good enough for anyone. The thing is, when I made that plan, I was in the middle of the worst depressive episode of my life.
