By law, security futures contracts must trade on a regulated U.S. exchange. Each regulated U.S. exchange that trades security futures contracts is subject to joint regulation by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Is trading futures considered day trading?

Both Futures/Futures Options and Forex are regulated by the NFA, which has no rules on day trading. As such, Futures/Futures Options and Forex round trips don’t count toward the PDT rules and funds covering margin on Futures/Futures Options and Forex positions don’t count toward the $25,000 FINRA equity requirement.

Who can trade futures?

Traders on futures exchange floors trade in “pits,” which are enclosed places designated for each futures contract. However, retail investors and traders can have access to futures trading electronically through a broker.

Can we sell futures before expiry?

Yes, the futures contract can be settled before expiry. This can be done by either selling the same contract to some other party or by taking an opposite position in a new contract which has the same expiry and contract price.

If the port has a question mark with a 3:1 symbol, that means you can now trade in 3 of any one resource to get one of any resource you want. If the port has a 2:1 with the symbol of a resource on it, that means you can trade in two of that resource to get one of any resource you want.
