Worth it—yes. Waste of time—only if you are distracted from learning in the first place. This is basic learning technology. Taking notes forces you to think about what you are writing.

Note-taking is VERY helpful to remember the material, but the necessary condition is you HAVE to handwrite those notes (typing doesn’t cut it). , I work as a computer programmer. Possibly, but likely not as much as practicing programming does.

If you are saving snippets of code you will use later, concepts of actions they will achieve to remind yourself and strengthen your understanding then go for it. Otherwise learning any language is built on your use of it. Some are more usable than others though not always explicit in every use.

Unless you have focus, you won’t be able to take “good notes”. And then when you’ve finished writing a notebook, if you refer to them a couple of times afterwards without success, you’ll most probably delete them/throw them away/put them in an old box back in the cellar!
