What encoder does Shadowplay use?

What encoder does Shadowplay use?

Once ShadowPlay captures a frame, it encodes it using a dedicated GPU hardware accelerated H. 264 video encoder that records up to 4K resolution at 130 Mbit/s with minimal performance impact to the rest of the system.

Does Shadowplay use GPU or CPU?

The game is what is utilizing your GPU(and CPU). Geforce Experience(Shadowplay or some such thing… They have changed names) does a good job with recording.

Does Shadowplay use Nvenc?

How does Shadowplay work? Shadowplay is NVIDIA’s proprietary recording software, that can be utilised by any NVIDIA GPU that has a built-in H. 264 NVENC ASIC block, provided the driver allows it.

Does Nvidia Shadowplay reduce FPS?

Is ShadowPlay or OBS better?

The best idea is to use OBS for long sessions and terrible bandwidth ranges; whereas ShadowPlay is nice choice if you have great bandwidth.

Is ShadowPlay lossless?

The Turing NVENC that NVIDIA ShadowPlay™ uses is top notch even when compared to a lossless video. But man, you gotta give it to em for being able to record 4K60 video at such high quality with no in-game framerate drop.

Does Shadowplay lag PC?

Shadowplay shouldn’t cause you to lag.

What resources does Shadowplay use?

Shadowplay uses hardware encoders at a driver level (bypassing CPU requirement) to record gameplay, and uses your GPU.

  • Higher level recorders which use NVENC (or Quicksync or VCE) still need to process with the CPU, because they are not at the driver level.
  • Is OBS better or ShadowPlay?

ShadowPlay doesn’t allow Shadow Recording and Twitch streaming at the same time. Thus, most gamers see OBS as an alternative for the effortless streaming of their content. ShadowPlay is good for video and gameplay broadcasting, but OBS features allow higher overlay adjustments.

    Is OBS better than ShadowPlay?

Difference 1: Effect on CPU Performance ShadowPlay does not affect CPU performance even while extending its support to higher framerates. On the other side, OBS causes a great effect on CPU performance even while working on limited frame rates.

    Does ShadowPlay cause lag?

Does Nvidia Shadowplay affect gaming performance?

But if Nvidia had stuck with its original plan of using the M2TS container or something similar then it probably would have a lower impact on gaming performance. It made no performance difference for me whether ShadowPlay was recording to the same disk as the one running the game or a different one.

Is Shadowplay performance affected by CUDA cores?

Since ShadowPlay uses both hardware H.264 and CUDA, I would also like to see if there is indeed a negative correlation between number of CUDA cores and ShadowPlay performance impact. Shadowplay is NOT meant for laptops. You are lucky to even run it.

What is the performance hit from Shadowplay?

The performance hit is identical whether I’m manually recording or using Shadow Mode. In hopes of shedding more light on this topic, please list your system specs and what percentage performance hit you’re personally getting from ShadowPlay. I would especially like to hear from those of you with close to minspec GPU’s such as GTX 650 and 650 Ti.

Can I run Shadowplay on my laptop?

/ontopic There is no laptop that Shadowplay is yet to work on (except for yours…. apparently) however, the graphic cards in the laptops does not have that 264.h chip etc. as the 600+700 and future cards have and will have. How you can even run it is probably just because it is noticed to be a 600 serie card.
