Which is better 5 or 6 speed transmission?

Which is better 5 or 6 speed transmission?

Efficiency. In recent 6-speeds, the extra speed from a 5-speed allows the engine to run at a lower RPM and save fuel, comparatively. This difference is most effective at highway driving speeds.

Which is better 6 speed or 9 speed transmission?

The 6 speed is most rugged and best for towing or heavy cars. The 9 speed is similar to the 6 but less rugged and better mpg. It also cost more if it breaks.

What is the advantage of a 9 speed transmission?

Fuel efficiency The wider overall ratio enables a lower numerical top gear ratio, which contributes to the reassuring fuel efficiency. This is further aided by the fact that the 9-speed automatic has lower friction.

Why did Harley switch to 6 speed transmission?

Harley had a good idea with the switch to a 6 speed transmission but early on also had bearing problems too. The test bed for the 6 speed was the dyna line in 06 and came with an agreement to return to the dealer at 15K to have the bearing replaced until they had a suitable replacement for the bearing that was failing.

Are 5 speed gearboxes inferior to 6 speed?

5 speed gearboxes are not inherently inferior to 6 speeds. Well-chosen gear ratios matter far more than the number of gears in a drivetrain. Also, a transmission might have excellent ratios, but have a crappy linkage that sucks to operate, so it’s a more complex question than the number of gear ratios. A friend of mine has an Integra GSR.
