Whether you’re a die-hard supporter of the iPhone or Android phones, you’ll see one thing that most smartphones coming into the market these days tend to not have a home screen button. Although it may sound slightly annoying to some users, the reason for doing this is to increase the size of the screen.
When Apple first debuted its big-screen iPhones it worried that people wouldn’t be able to reach the whole of the touchscreen display with their thumbs while holding the device, so it introduced a new Reachability feature, which brought the whole screen image down when you double-touched (not pressed) the Home button.

Is the Home button ever coming back?
The home button is back: Apple unveils updated $399 version of iPhone SE with Touch ID. The new SE looks a lot like the iPhone 8 and original SE. It comes with a very visible notch, a single front-facing camera and a fingerprint scanner known as Touch ID rather than Face ID. That means the beloved home button is back.
Apple’s introduced the latest of it’s line up of iPhones with no Home button. The iPhone 12 series joins the iPhone 11 series, and the iPhone XR, XS and X with a full screen front and Face ID.
In 2016, Apple released the iPhone 7, which replaced the home button with an unmoving, solid circle that wasn’t really a button at all. Thanks to a new haptic feedback engine, users could still “press” on the home button area and feel a fake click, but the “button” didn’t move.
